Frances Solcum State Park - 1,035 acres to boat, picnic, hike, fish, camping and swim. Wyoming 570 696-3525

Gouldsboro State Park - 2,800 acres, 250-acre lake, enjoy fishing, boating and swimming. Gouldsboro 570 894-8336

Lacawac Sanctuary - See Wildlife, offers a self guided tour and guided tours. 570 689-9494

Lackawanna State Forest - 6,000 acres of forest, cross-country ski, hike, hunt, fish and more. West of Thornhurst 570 472-3011 or 963-4561

Lackawanna State Park - 198-acre stocked lake, fishermen get out your poles. If you are not into fishing you can picnic, swim, hike and camp. Dalton 570 945-3239

Lehigh Gorge State Park - A utopia for white water boating. Rockport 570 443-0400

McDade County Park - During the winter, sleigh rides and cross-country skiing are the big attraction. In the summer month's children's fishing, softball and swimming in the pool keeps everyone cool. Scranton 570 963-6764

Ricketts Glen State Park - 13,050-acre hikers' paradise, visit 22 waterfalls hidden within wooded gorges. Fishing and snowmobiling trails are also available. Red Rock 570 477-5675
