Milford, PA

Milford PA was once called "the prettiest county seat in America" by Atlantic magazine, in part because it boasts architecture by Calvert Vaux, Frederic Law Olmsted, Jr., Richard Morris Hunt, McKim, Mead & White, Chester Aldrich, Hunt & Hunt, Peter Bohlin and others. Almost all of the village is in a National Historic District and Milford is the north gate to the 70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and sits on the banks of the upper Delaware River.

Fall foliage in the Milford PA area is exquisite and the highlight of area attractions. Other attractions include the historic “bloody Lincoln flag” upon which the slain president’s head laid after he was shot, at the Pike County Historical Society Museum, Grey Towers, the chateau built by James Pinchot and recently opened to the public after a $19 million renovation and a network of dramatic waterfalls throughout Pike County.
