The
Poconos Five Top
Restaurant Tables
The
Stone Bar
- Rt 209 Snydersville, PAThe
Regulars -You'd never expect this to be THE
place. But, here they are - at one time or another
the elite of our society. The lawyers, the accountants,
the networked executives, the physicians, the
BEST of the land salesmen and their current dates.
In season, this is where you'll find the biggest
vacationing fish, too.

In season, this is where you'll find the biggest
vacationing fish, too.
Why
- It's a warm and fuzzy, insider kinda place.
A class act, courtesy of Andrew Moore, a veteran
of the food business in the Poconos. (Definition
of a Pocono food veteran - More than 10 years
in the business and still not broke) Getting a
reservation on a busy night means you've made
it.
The
Best Seats in the House - Front room, center
floor for the want to be seen. A front room booth
for the discreet. (south side middle booth)
Rate
- Ten cloth napkins
History
- Andrew Moore first made his mark at the restaurant
at Foxmoor in Marshall's creek, where he fed some
of the most pretentious for a few holiday seasons.
The Stone Bar (and there is one) has a mysterious
history. Let's keep it that way.....
Chances
of Getting THE Table - There are a few of
them, but we've never sat there, so it's pretty
hard to figure out
Alaska
Pete's Rt 209, Marshalls Creek, PA
(Alaska Pete's Named "Best Burger in the
Poconos 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014 ")
The Regulars - Suits for lunch. Just about
everybody else for dinner, all voracious meat
eaters. Well .. we did spot a few lobsters. A
date spot. An informal anniversary spot. A birthday
party for the patriarch of the family spot. The
eastern Poconos money crowd, to be seen, kinda
spot. The "honey, let's go to the Poconos
and stop at Alaska Pete's for a steak, on the
way" kinda spot.
Why
- Because it is kept like new.(clean updated and
fresh) Because there's nothing around like it.
A good, fresh salad bar. 'Cause there's nobody
with visible body piercings. AND 'cause of The
Best Steak around, cooked just right. With a real
decent seafood and pasta selection.
The
Best Seats in the House - To view the "Fun
Crowd" definitely in the Bar (The MoonDog
Saloon) good contemporary piano entertainment
usually on weekends. Either one of the corner
tables under the TV. (No, everybody's not looking
at you, they're watching CNN). The left rear one's
the best. And there's a private intimate corner
booth in the more formal dining room ---try to
get it!
Rate
- Eight cloth napkins.
History
- None, it's new. Unless you count the 15 years
the place was a burger joint before this wonderful,
comfortable renovation.
Chances
of Getting THE Table - Get there early, just
sit at the bar and wait for the corner table above
or lie and tell the hostess that it's a "Special
Night". Aren't they all?
Basso
(Italian) - Rt 390, Cresco,
PA
The
Regulars - Let's see, everyone from around
the Pocnos, but mostly the Buck Hill / Skytop
crowd?
Why
- It's the spot where power and money meet. It's
where the service and food are both top notch.
The
Best Seats in the House - Allll the way in
the back. In the back alcove last seats in the
house. No one walks by, close to the kitchen,
and a full view of the dining room.
Rate
- Best Italian - 7 Cloth Napkins
History
- Gracie was the original is in the kitchen most nights.
She had been here cooking in the Poconos since
in Indian Head at the gap was made by God. The new cook Carries on.
Chances
of Getting THE Table - You'll probably not
be real successful at this, 'cause the regular
boys won't give up their seats.
